Attention parents, friends and alumni of NWPHS, it is that time of year....MAAP STARS and we need judges! Please consider taking the time to volunteer to judge events at the Spring MAAP STARS conference on April 10th and 11th in Bloomington. This annual event is a great opportunity for Northwest Passage High School students to present work in a variety of areas ranging from Public Speaking to Advertising and students that are able to participate speak highly of the opportunity and what we learned. It is a great place for student's to be recognized for the amazing work they do.
This event couldn't happen without volunteers, please click on the following link and fill out the form MAAP STARS Judge
A thank you from the NWPHS MAAP STARS advisors,
Theresa, Brandi and Ryan

With all the attention on the 2014 Winter Olympics NWPHS students have caught the curling bug too. Theresa's P.E. class has become "experts" at curling thanks to Four Seasons Curling Club. Who knows maybe they'll try bobsledding or ski jumping next?
Northwest Passage HS will host the next IDEA MN meeting on February 15th from 10:00 am - 12:30. Anyone interested in learning more about IDEA MN and/or Northwest Passage High School is invited to attend.
"IDEA MN formed in December 2013, when the national organization IDEA (Institute for Democratic Education in America) committed the modest resources to seed a site based team in Minnesota. Since then, we have formed a strong cohort of volunteer youth workers, educators, youth, and community members who are committed to education that is meaningful to young people and their communities. IDEA MN gets together monthly at events we entitled: Salons - an assembly of guests in such a room, especially an assembly, common during the 17th and 18th centuries, consisting of the leaders in society, art, politics, etc” - Dictionary.com. Based on the work at a planning session at the Learning Breakthrough Series in Jackson, MS, we moved to version 2.0 of our work, adding showcasing to our monthly Salon meetings. Every month, we convene at a different location from 10:00 am-12:30 pm, giving our host the chance to tell us about their work for 45 minutes of the time we spend together."
Please join us Tuesday February 11th from 6:30-7:30 to learn more about Northwest Passage High School and our upcoming Environmental S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) Program.
